Piano Lessons MelbourneJenny offers professional private tuition in Piano from either the Mitcham or Parkville studios in Melbourne. Students can study both Classical and Modern styles. Jenny teaches the youngest (or oldest!) beginner to the most advanced tertiary student. Trained professionally as a classical pianist at Melbourne University, she also teaches a range of Modern styles from Ragtime to Jazz, to easy-listening Ballads. As the piano is such a versatile instrument, Jenny encourages most students to broaden their musical appreciation by incorporating the study of a range of styles, including learning to play from chord charts. Like Don, Jenny believes that the Theory of Music is an important element of musical training and she incorporates the study of theory in lessons from the outset. Jenny has written a progressive piano course for beginner students, which develops not just reading, but eye-hand co-ordination, independence between the hands and technical facility. Her classical students play from a series of books that contain material she has compiled and edited, with an emphasis on developing an understanding of the various classical musical styles through a careful selection of music that is enjoyable to play. Theory is taught from the comprehensive course she has co-written with Don. Students wishing to sit for examinations can request to be prepared for AMEB, ANZCA, ABRSM or Trinity College exams. Please feel free to call Jenny directly on 0419 553 802 if you want further information. |
